Dutton Ranch
"The ghosts of Yellowstone are behind us. What's ahead is ours to build — or burn."
Premieres May 15, 2026
Fridays at 8:00 PM ET/PT on Paramount+ and Paramount Network. First two episodes drop on premiere night. Season finale: July 3.
1. Beth & Rip's New Beginning in South Texas
Dutton Ranch is a direct sequel to Yellowstone, picking up with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they leave the ghosts of Montana behind to forge a new life on a sprawling 7,000-acre ranch in South Texas.
The official logline paints a vivid picture: the couple "collides with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire." With the Yellowstone gone and most of the Dutton family scattered, Beth and Rip must build something entirely new — while still raising Carter to become the man he's meant to be.
Unlike the political land wars of Yellowstone, Dutton Ranch promises a more intimate exploration of Beth and Rip's relationship against the backdrop of a Texas range war, featuring themes of loyalty, survival, and the high cost of maintaining a legacy in unforgiving territory.
2. A Powerhouse Cast: Oscar Winners Meet Yellowstone Legends
Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser return as the beloved Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, the couple whose fiery chemistry became the emotional backbone of Yellowstone. They are joined by Finn Little as Carter, the troubled teenager they've taken under their wing.
The new cast is staggering: Annette Bening (American Beauty, The Kids Are All Right) plays Beulah Jackson, a powerful and cunning Texas ranch matriarch who serves as the series' primary antagonist. Ed Harris (Westworld, The Truman Show) stars as Everett McKinney, a weathered veteran and veterinarian with a dry sense of humor.
Rounding out the ensemble are Jai Courtney as Rob-Will, J.R. Villarreal as Azul, Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin, Marc Menchaca as Zachariah, Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana, and country star Morgan Wade in a recurring role as Carol, a bartender in the fictional town of Rio Paloma.
3. Behind the Scenes: A Turbulent Production
Taylor Sheridan created the series and serves as executive producer, while Chad Feehan was tapped as creator and showrunner for Season 1. Filming took place from August 2025 to March 2026 across North Texas.
Despite being set in South Texas, the production utilized locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex including Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Weatherford, Rio Vista, and Mineral Wells — a testament to the versatility of the North Texas landscape.
However, the production has not been without drama. Reports in April 2026 indicated that Feehan was let go ahead of the premiere following reported clashes with cast members and production leadership. He will not return for a potential second season, raising questions about the show's creative direction going forward.
4. Premiere Strategy: A Dual-Platform Launch
Dutton Ranch premieres on Friday, May 15, 2026 with a dual-platform launch on both Paramount+ (streaming) and the Paramount Network (linear TV) at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
The premiere event will feature the first two episodes, with the remaining seven episodes airing weekly. The nine-episode first season is scheduled to conclude on July 3, 2026.
This dual-platform strategy mirrors the approach that proved successful for Yellowstone, maximizing both streaming subscribers and traditional television audiences. With Beth Dutton consistently ranking as one of TV's most popular characters, Paramount is betting on massive premiere numbers.
