Dutton Ranch Cast: Where You've Seen Them Before

Dutton Ranch moves Beth and Rip from Montana to South Texas, and it surrounds them with a cast that is deeper than most Yellowstone spinoffs. Three actors carry their characters over from the flagship. The rest are new faces to the franchise but very familiar faces to anyone who has watched prestige TV or an action movie in the last twenty years.

Here is the full Season 1 cast, the character each actor plays, and where you have almost certainly seen them before.

The Returning Yellowstone Actors

Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton. Reilly has played Beth since the Yellowstone pilot in 2018, and Dutton Ranch is built around her. Before Montana, the British actress was Jordan Semyon in the second season of HBO's True Detective, Mary Morstan in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films, and Nicole in Flight opposite Denzel Washington. She also played Caroline Bingley in the 2005 Pride & Prejudice.

Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler. Hauser has been the ranch's enforcer since Yellowstone Season 1. His career goes back to the 1990s: he was Benny in Dazed and Confused, Billy in Good Will Hunting, and the villain Carter Verone in 2 Fast 2 Furious. He is the son of the late actor Wings Hauser.

Finn Little as Carter. The young Australian actor joined Yellowstone in Season 4 as the orphan Beth takes in, and he follows her to Texas here. He starred opposite Angelina Jolie in the wildfire thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead and played the title role in Storm Boy.

For Beth and Rip's full backstory, see Who Is Beth Dutton? and the Rip Wheeler character guide.

The New Leads

Ed Harris as Everett McKinney. Harris plays a local veterinarian and military-medicine veteran who becomes Beth and Rip's steadiest ally in Texas. He is a four-time Academy Award nominee — Apollo 13, The Truman Show, The Hours, and Pollock, which he also directed. Younger viewers know him as the Man in Black on Westworld. Harris has been candid that he felt underused in Season 1; the full story is in Ed Harris Nearly Quit Dutton Ranch.

Annette Bening as Beulah Jackson. Bening is the show's antagonist, the Texas ranch matriarch who runs 10 Petal and sees Beth as a threat. She is a five-time Oscar nominee across The Grifters, American Beauty, Being Julia, The Kids Are All Right, and Nyad. She also played the Supreme Intelligence in Captain Marvel. More on the character in Who Is Beulah Jackson?.

The Jackson Family

Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin "Kino" Jackson Reyes. The Colombian actor is best known internationally as Pablo Escobar's cousin and partner Gustavo Gaviria in Netflix's Narcos, and as "Buddha" Ortiz in the History Channel SEAL drama Six. See the Joaquin Jackson Reyes character guide.

Jai Courtney as Rob-Will Jackson. The Australian actor has played Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad, Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys, and the gladiator Varro on Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Rob-Will does not survive Season 1, so Courtney is not expected back — see Who Shot Rob-Will?.

Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana Jackson. Lind played Lauren Strucker on Marvel's The Gifted and Danielle Sullivan on David E. Kelley's Big Sky, and had a recurring run on The Goldbergs.

The Ranch Hands and the Law

J. R. Villarreal as Azul Ramos, Rip's right-hand wrangler in Texas. Villarreal broke through as Javier in Akeelah and the Bee (2006) and more recently played Tio Tonio on the On My Block spinoff Freeridge.

Marc Menchaca as Zachariah Moss. Menchaca is a prestige-TV regular: Russ Langmore on Ozark, a lead role on HBO's The Outsider, and parts in Black Bird, Homeland, and We Own This City.

Josh Stewart as Sheriff Handy Wade, the rule-bending local lawman. Stewart played Detective William LaMontagne Jr. on Criminal Minds for more than a decade and is a regular in Christopher Nolan's films — Barsad in The Dark Knight Rises, plus roles in Interstellar and Tenet. He also played John Pilgrim on Marvel's The Punisher.

Ray McKinnon as Dwight White, a local rancher in a smaller Season 1 role. McKinnon was Reverend H. W. Smith on Deadwood and Lincoln Potter on Sons of Anarchy, created and ran the acclaimed SundanceTV drama Rectify, and won an Academy Award for his 2001 live-action short film The Accountant.

The Cartel Side

Raoul Max Trujillo as Mariano Reyes, the cartel figure whose cattle-and-fentanyl operation drives the back half of the season. Trujillo played the Mayan warlord Zero Wolf in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto and has appeared in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, Mayans M.C., and Terrence Malick's The New World.

Bobby Soto as young Mariano in flashback. Soto led David Ayer's crime drama The Tax Collector (2020) and appeared in Narcos: Mexico and A Better Life.

Both are covered in our Mariano Reyes guide.

What Changes for Season 2

Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Finn Little, Ed Harris and Annette Bening are all expected back, with Benjamin Cavell replacing Chad Feehan as showrunner. Jai Courtney is out after Rob-Will's death. The season opens with Carter kidnapped and Mariano's operation exposed, so the cartel side of the cast is likely to grow. Full details in Dutton Ranch Season 2: Everything We Know.
