What Tulsa King Is
Sheridan wrote the pilot in a reported single sitting and handed the rest to a room — Terence Winter ran Season 1, Dave Erickson took over from Season 2 — which is why Tulsa King feels less like his other work. It is funnier, faster, and far less interested in landscape than Yellowstone or Landman.
Sylvester Stallone plays Dwight Manfredi, a Gambino-style capo released after a quarter-century inside and pointedly assigned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he has no crew, no territory, and no intention of staying small. The premise runs on the same engine as most Sheridan shows: an outsider imposing an old code on a place that has moved on without him.
Season 3 ran from 21 September to 23 November 2025 and added Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., an old cellmate of Dwight's whose story is being spun off into its own series. Season 4 has finished shooting and sits in the edit; Paramount+ has not dated it, with reporting pointing at late 2026.
The spinoff — reported under the working titles NOLA King and Frisco King — follows Jackson's character out of Tulsa and into his own criminal territory. Details have shifted more than once, so treat any specific title or date as provisional until Paramount confirms it.
